Living Fully Alive: The Critical Journey of Spiritual Formation

Laura Longville

We are quick to take care of our bodies—through exercise, healthy food, and rest—because we recognize that they require attention. Many of us also give thought to our mental health, recognizing the value of therapy, supportive relationships, and mindful practices. But here’s the deeper question: what about our spiritual lives?

Just as our bodies and minds benefit from intentional care, so too does our soul. Our walk with Jesus doesn’t grow by accident. Spiritual formation is the intentional process of shaping our hearts and lives to reflect who we are in Christ. Left unattended, our souls can become weary, restless, or distracted, even when everything looks fine on the outside.

Scripture reminds us to “be transformed by the renewing of our minds” (Romans 12:2). This renewal doesn’t happen passively—it calls for participation and openness to the Spirit. The journey of formation is both curious and critical: curious because it invites us to notice where God is already at work, and crucial because it asks us to examine what is truly shaping us.

Intentional spiritual formation is not about rigid rules or empty checklists. It’s about prayer, Scripture, worship, silence, and community—practices that open us to God’s presence in everyday life. When we tend to our spiritual health, we find deeper peace, greater love, and a more faithful witness to Christ.

The invitation is here. Will you step into it?

An opportunity to come away
before you fall apart.”

CONTEMPLATIVE LIVING RETREATS

Contemplative Living Retreats offer a leisurely-paced yet comprehensive introduction to contemplative living. It’s a communal journey that is experiential and interactive.

Many of us are aching for more. In recent years, we have been left searching for meaning, trying to make sense of the personal and collective challenges we face. These longings—our uneasiness, questions, and heartache—can draw us closer to our Heavenly Father. True wholeness means caring for our spiritual, emotional, and physical health.

Contemplative Living Retreats (CLR) offers space to slow down and enter a deeper walk with God. Through prayerful rhythms, you’ll discover your God-given desires, grow in self-awareness, and find inner healing. CLR strengthens your relationship with the Trinity and guides you toward a purpose-rooted, abundant life.

A new cohort is forming this Fall. We would love for you to travel this critical spiritual journey toward God. Living fully alive in Him and together!
